No Second Chances

The second game of the season gave the Golden Eagles their second loss

Frederick suffered a disheartening loss in their second game of the season. We started the intensive game with us on offense, the second play of the game we fumbled the ball but we ended up with the ball. And the Monarch defense forces us to have to punt it for the first drive of the game. But the kick was blocked and Monarch recovers it and makes it first down with a yard to go. With Monarch’s first offensive drive, they made it into the end zone but fortunately missed the extra point.

Our offense was struggling the whole game and was struggling the whole first half with the Monarch’s imminent defense. With the defense linemen getting through the offensive line almost every play our quarterback was feeling the pressure. During the whole first quarter we failed to get many yards, our passes were being dropped and our ball carriers were being tackled at the line of scrimmage and behind it.

During the second quarter, we had our first breakthrough and we were able to kick the ball in for a field goal. With the score being six to three both defenses were locked in. Not wanting to let the other team get any more yards they were both in their A game, it was a defensive game.

During the third quarter, our offense snapped back into reality and scored our first touchdown in the game. With number forty-one running it into the end zone. Our kicker Dylan Norwood number forty six had a good game but missed the field goal.

That touchdown was the conference booster we needed on offense and on defense. After that, we scored again with a fifty-four-yard pass to number two. Not just with that long pass we had another hard drive into the end zone and scored another touchdown, we went for the extra points and passed our way into the end zone making it 9 to 23. With our spirits high and our score up, we were feeling confident going into the fourth quarter.

Monarch did not give up and came back even harder than they were before. With their hard work, they tied the score back up by the middle of the fourth quarter. In the last couple of minutes, they made it to the red zone with a couple of yards left to go. Monarch managed to score again making the final score 30 to 23. We worked hard but Monarch worked harder and ended up taking the win making us 0-2.
