Senior Evan Quinonez, a dedicated athlete and involved student, has left a significant mark on the Frederick high school community through both his hard work on the football field and on his academic and extracurricular pursuits.
An athlete who has lettered four years in football, and who dominated the O-line and D-line, Evan successfully balanced the demands of sports with academics, taking numerous AP and Honors classes. Beyond athletics and the classroom, Evan demonstrated impressive commitment as a four year student council member, an accomplishment Evan cherishes for allowing him to be deeply involved in everything their school offered.
Evan has been playing football since he was four years old. He plays O-line and D-line on the football field and is a 4 year lettering athlete. “Being a student athlete has benefited me by making sure I’m on top of my grades and being eligible.”
One of Evan’s favorite hobbies to do other than being on the football field is playing golf because he says, “It’s a sport where it’s ok to not answer your phone for hours.” Outside of school Evan likes to play pick up sports, golf, and “Serve in my church as well as go to youth group”.
Evan has participated in quite a few AP and Honors classes including AP Human Geography, AP U.S. History, AP Language, Honors Chemistry, AP Bio, AP Government, AP Environmental Science, and CU function class. Evan has participated in a lot of AP and Honors classes but he says his biggest accomplishment aside from all those classes is being a 4 year student council member, “I love being involved in everything”.
There is a lot to miss about high school and the time in high school, Evan’s favorite memory from high school would be the 2024 homecoming assembly, he says “I really enjoyed watching the unified basketball athletes play and be a part of it”. Something Evan will miss most about this time in high school is being around the people he loves and has been around his whole life, “I really enjoy how much we change through the years”.
After high school Evan wants to become a teacher, he plans on going to college at CU Boulder, but if CU Boulder does not work he wants to go to UCCS. He will be going to college for education because he has, “I like to make a difference in people’s life”. Evan plans on taking the teaching career path once he graduates because he says that “educating the youth is the most important thing in the world”.
One goal Evan wants to accomplish in the next year is to stay in the P-tech program and get his student teaching hours done. He says his biggest role model through all of this is his dad because, “My dad because he shows how when there seems to be no way out there’s always a way through god.” As Evan comes to his last semester as a student of Frederick high school he would like to be remembered as “someone people can reach out to for help”.
As Evan Quinonez prepares to leave the halls of Frederick High school, his legacy is firmly established not just in athletic standard and academic honors, but in his commitment to the community here at Frederick.
With his sights set on CU Boulder or UCCS to pursue an education degree, Evan is driven by a powerful desire to “make a difference” and shape the youth, inspired by his father’s enduring resilience.
