Everyone has been talking about Rihanna’s returning to stage in the Super Bowl LVII halftime show since the announcement. Now finally, after months of anticipation, Rihanna took the stage for the first time in five years at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium this past weekend (February 12), and let’s put it this way: she made it seem like she’d never missed a beat and in other words, it was to die for!

Rihanna opened the show with “B**ch Better Have My Money” while gazing at the crowd and camera floating on a transparent platform. She followed the show with the following songs: “Where Have You Been,” “Rude Boy,” “Work,” “Wild Thoughts,” “Pour It Up,” “Umbrella,” “Diamonds,” and even more. The songs she performs in the show could not be more diverse, as they include all of her 2000 hits.

Rihanna wore a statement red jumpsuit that was unzipped at the top, revealing a high-shine red bustier and a tight red shirt underneath, which not only caught everyone’s eye but also caused speculation that she is pregnant again. Later in the night, a representative on her team confirmed the rumors are true and she is expecting.

During the 13-minute halftime show, Rihanna had a great number of dancers in white hooded puffer jackets, white sweatpants, and sunglasses. The dancers begin the performance on their own floating stage beside Rihanna, and they then gather around Rihanna with an astonishingly synchronized choreography. During the performance, the dancers configured themselves into many positions and performed their choreographed dances to correlate with Rihanna and the music she performed. At the very end of the performance, Rihanna ended up back on her own floating platform, leading into the sky.

The songs that Rihanna performed couldn’t have been better, and each song brought something different to the table as she performed each song with its own character, and with one song leading into the next, it sounded amazing, bringing goosebumps to the awaiting fans. The dancers definitely added to the show, bringing spunk to the stage. Not to mention, the stage setup was different from previous halftime performances, keeping the performance unique and interesting; the floating platforms added a special Rihanna touch; and it gave the performance a little bit more personality, which definitely surpassed other halftime performances that were rather bland.

In all, the halftime performance by Rihanna was really good. While some say they wanted and expected more, this was Rihanna’s first performance in almost five years, and she couldn’t have done it any better. She performed a show that will never be forgotten.
