Owen Willis, Social Media Manager

Owen Willis is a junior at Frederick High School. He is currently employed at the Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools, where he works on the District’s Innovation Lab, creates videos on the Media Team, and creates websites on the Tech Team. After high school, he plans to go to college for communications and hopes to return to work in St. Vrain in the future. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and working on his videography skills.

The Academic Letters and historic Letterman Jacket are displayed near the front of the school. When the mascot changes are occurring this summer, these will either be completely removed, or they will be moved to the display case in the commons. Some of the other logo things just have to go, [such as] the Warrior Leather Jacket. That might be something that we put in the display case since it is an old piece of memorabilia, but it is also one of the pieces that we may not put up since it could cause controversy, and those are the things we are trying to get rid of, Mr. Gordon shares.

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, members of the Frederick Feeder, Community, and beyond will take part in a 5k/Fun Run event. The 5k and Fun Run will be raising money for the Student Council at Frederick High School, as well as the staff scholarship. FHS Student Council is excited to announce the first Frederick Feeder 5k and 400m Fun Run on April 16th, 2022. Proceeds will help support school wide activities and the 2022 staff scholarship, reads the description on the race registration website.

On March 12, 2022, Frederick High School will partner with the Carbon Valley Help Center to host an event for the Empty Bowls Project. The Empty Bowls Project was started to support anyone in need of assistance. This is an annual event that has proven to be successful at helping those in need. We have served over 800 people this year, which is a 26.6% increase compared to the same time last year, reads the Carbon Valley Help Center website.

This decision was made on Monday evening during a meeting of the Boulder County Board of Health. A few members of Frederick Highs Swim Team for the 2021-2022 Season. There have been many challenges faced throughout this years swim season, but that hasnt stopped this team from finding success. The toughest thing about swimming is remembering that you can always improve and that just because you make a mistake doesn’t mean that mistake makes you, says Paige Wilcox, a junior at Frederick High. I think the highlight of the season was when we did our first duel and won, especially when Coach Mares had given us a pep talk previous to our meet.

The current graduation requirements for all students in St. Vrain Valley Schools. Even though the PE credit requirement is more than the Arts requirements, classes in both areas have really strong numbers of students enrolled. I dont think [the graduation requirements] has a direct correlation to [class sizes] because there are kids who might [complete all of their PE credits in their freshman year, but may want to take additional PE classes when they have an opening in their schedule], says Mr. Gordon.

Mrs. Jennifer Santos, Assistant Principal at Frederick High, scolds senior Jillian Margheim for being late to class. Starting on January 10, any underclassman who gets marked tardy 20 times or more will lose the ability to have off-blocks in the 2022-2023 school year, and any upperclassman who gets more than 20 tardies will lose the ability to attend Prom in April. “[Being tardy really] takes away from instructional time [especially] for students [who] come in 15 minutes late, [because those students end up] missing the whole setup [and introduction to class] and, ultimately, [being late] does impact your grade, says Ms. Swanson.

The theatre float will be one of many in this year’s Homecoming Parade which takes place on Friday, October 1. “The float this year is really unique compared to past years. This year we are going to be advertising both our fall and our spring show, so we got to do like a half and half type of thing, which is really fun and we got to take a lot of creative liberty with that,” says Thomas Beeker, a senior at Frederick High School and the theatre float coordinator.

I am looking forward to everything because [all of the Homecoming Week events are] back, like the parade, pep rally and the tailgate, dress-up days [and] the dance, says Joelle Richard, a junior at Frederick High and a member of Student Council. It is feeling like a normal year again, and I am glad that people are able to experience [Homecoming Week], especially since both the Freshman and Sophomore [classes will be participating in Homecoming for the] first time, so it is really exciting for them getting to [take part in] it,” she adds.
