Frederick High School’s football team played Loveland High School’s Red Wolves on Friday, October 4, scoring 41–7 in the end. The team showed no mercy despite this being LHS’s homecoming game.
The odds were in favor of LHS, and the first play of the game resulted in Frederick QB Gavin Ishmael being sacked, giving LHS false hope. Just after the sack, Ishmael threw a long pass to Sonny Delpizzo, scoring a touchdown for 85 yards just 2 plays into the game. Frederick ended the quarter with two touchdown passes along with an extra 2 points from one-point conversions.
Frederick proceeded to score many points on LHS, accumulating 35 in just the first half. As if to add salt to an open wound, LHS football didn’t score a single point until the 4th quarter, when all of Frederick’s starters were subbed out for other players on the team.
Gavin Ishmael, Burke Eismann and Sonny Delpizzo made an excellent trio, accumulating 6 touchdowns, adding up to 36 total points. Dylan Norwood and Garret Cahoon also played key roles in the game, scoring 5 total extra point conversions.
Gavin Ishmael scored 3 of 6 total touchdowns, all being rushing as he is the quarterback. He scored 274 passing yards and 141 rushing yards, with his longest pass getting the ball down almost the entire field, sitting at 85 yards.
Burke Eismann scored 1 of 6 touchdowns, but got the ball down the field a number of times for 80 total receiving yards. Gavin and Eismann have been an unstoppable duo together this season.
Sonny Delpizzo played remarkably well this game, scoring the team 12 total points from 2 touchdowns. In a mix of both receiving and rushing yards, Sonny attained 113 all-purpose yards. After an interview with the Golden Eagle Broadcast Network, Sonny stated, “ […] it was kind of disrespectful that they put us as their homecoming game, but, you know, we just came out here and played Frederick Football and showed them how we play.”
After starting out the season 0 – 2, Frederick has redefined themselves and got theirselves back on track to being a 4A playoffs contender. They have 4 remaining games this season, so the deciding factor of this season’s outcome has not yet been defined quite yet. You can find information on the team’s schedule on Maxpreps.
