The Junior Varsity cheerleaders have been working hard this past week for a new adventure. They are super excited to see what cheer can bring to their future and all the amazing values that cheer has. The JV cheerleaders are having so much fun as they get to learn new skills that they have never thought they could do, but they also learn them as a team for FHS.
Junior cheerleaders will not be cheering at a lot of games; they will mostly cheer at wrestling and some basketball games. They will be learning new cheers and stunts that they probably have never done before, but that will just prepare them for their cheer futures. Bringing the team together now will only make them better as they grow together.
The tryouts for JV were three days; they were from September 18- September 20th. On the last day of the JV cheer tryouts, the varsity cheer team had a little party for the new cheerleaders. There were some cupcake fights, but it just showed how proud and exciting it was to add new members to the Frederick cheer team.
Jersey Icke is starting a cupcake fight. The last day of JV tryouts, the varsity team had a little party for the new members.
One of the JV cheerleaders, Jersey Icke, says that “I had a lot of fun making new friends and having other people to hang out with outside of school to hang out with. I’m glad I tried to cheer because it gives me something to do after school, and I also love that it is a new experience for me in my first year of high school”. This is Jersey’s first year doing cheer, and she has had a lot of fun seeing the Ardith team cheer and also being able to do it herself.
The main coach for the JV cheerleaders, Coach Anna, says, “The cheerleaders were really great! Full of energy and really positive attitudes. I loved that varsity came and welcomed our new cheerleaders. That was really special, and I think that will be something JV won’t forget”. Coach Anna is also an assistant coach for the varsity cheer team.
The varsity cheer team and the JV cheer team won’t be able to do a lot of games or fun things together, but they still support each other even in different rooms and different levels. Throughout the year, the varsity cheerleaders have been excited to see the progress the JV cheerleaders have made and are also excited about seeing some of the JV girls on the varsity team next year.
