November 6, 2022
On Saturday, November 5th, Frederick’s volleyball team took the court to determine their next steps for the season. While the team had some bitter losses they maintained a higher winning ranking allowing themselves to qualify for regionals ending the season 14-11, but fell short at regionals.
The team’s schedule was set up to face pretty difficult teams which later tested the team’s capacity. The volleyball team faced Pueblo Central which they beat in all three sets but fell short 0-3 against Lewis-Palmer.
The Frederick Golden Eagles varsity volleyball team had a strong first half of Regionals facing Pueblo Central Wildcats on the court. During all three sets, the team brought tons of fury to the table, finishing with more total blocks, kills, digs, assists, and receptions. Kelsey Mathews (#12), Katelin Sindelar (#10), Delaney Frank (#2), and Tatianna Staab (#9) all stepped up to play a big role in this game leading the team to victory. In the first set, the team started strong making a statement winning 25-12, following up with the second set keeping it rolling defeating the Wildcats 25-13, and finally shutting the team down in the third set 25-10 anticipating a victory for the next game.
The following game the Frederick Golden Eagles volleyball team had a challenging face-off, opposing the Lewis-Palmer Rangers volleyball team with a strong record of 15-8. Though the Golden Eagles didn’t come out on top they did perform well against the Rangers, the team stat comparison was consistently close, as the Golden Eagles had higher reception and serving aces rates and were rather close including digs, assists, and kills. In the first set the Golden Eagles started strong and they were up 3-0 but then Lewis-Palmer struck back and took the upper hand winning 25-13, in the second set the Rangers and Golden Eagles were neck to neck fighting for victory, but the Golden Eagles couldn’t gain the lead losing 25-14, in the third set Frederick struggled to fight back and take the lead, losing 25-12 cutting their season short to an end.
Though the team’s season didn’t end the way they initially wanted, the volleyball team had a great season and a great run. This only means the team is looking forward to next season, working hard, facing bigger challenges, and making Frederick proud.
