The newest album for the Red Hot Chili Peppers Unlimited Love is the first album the band has released in 6 years. This new album was the band’s new effort to recapture their old spark in a new era. The new album excited many of their fans because of the long awaiting thought that they would never have another album again. But, this album exceeded a lot of fans expectations and has made many fans happy for the new music.

This album has a nice balance of funk, rock, rhythm, and of course melody. It was almost a mix of all the genres they’ve played. Unlimited Love was delivered just how the band wanted it to be. It is smooth and gets better and better with every listen. The album is really what the fans have been waiting for, for a very long time now. “One more time, for whatever reason, the
universe saw fit to inject this band with another giant shot of plasma.” Front man for the Red Hot Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis tells Apple Music, “Left our own devices, we probably would’ve withered on the vine somewhere along the line, as we all do at some point. But it wasn’t quite time for us to do that yet.”

What makes Unlimited Love such a star struck and anticipated album is that it’s the band’s first album with their very iconic lineup reunited once more. The album’s opening song “Black Summer” is the lead single and it sets the tone for the rest of the album because of the momentum and chilling aspects of the song that just set the album up to be amazing. Unlimited Love picks up right where they left off, almost reminding you of their magic that they have been able to keep alive all this time.

In that same interview with Apple Music they continue with, “The shot of “plasma” that Kiedis is referring to is, in large part, the (second) return of guitarist John Frusciante, after roughly a decade away. You can immediately hear the difference-in the aqueous funk of “Poster Child,” the stadium-ready swings of “These Are the Ways,” or the acoustic phrasing of “Tangelo,” the album’s delicate closer. “It’s so clear when he writes and when he plays,” Kiedis says of his bandmate, whose guitar work proved galvanizing on career highlights like 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik and 1999’s Californication. “It’s really fun to listen to because it’s sound and emotion and color. He’s not trying to play the right notes-he’s just trying to play the notes that are truly him.””

Red Hot Chili Peppers reuniting one last time for their much anticipated and very long awaited album, “Unlimited Love”

But despite all of this album’s strengths the one big downfall of the album is that it does feel like it is too long. With 17 amazing tracks at times it feels like they might have dragged it along too much. Furthermore there isn’t much more to complain about because of how iconic and long awaited this album has been.

Red Hot Chili Peppers once again exceeded expectations and they are now preparing to enter their fourth decade as a band and they have adapted a new perspective that everyone is loving. Nonetheless what shines through the most throughout this album is the unbreakable chemistry that the band has to make music. Unlimited Love represents not only the return of the band but also the makings of their future music to come. Although the album is constantly going to get compared to their past work this is exciting to see a new chapter for the band.
