After years and years of Michael B Jordan’s incredible acting performances, he is finally getting a chance to direct Creed III.

The Creed franchise has been one of the most successful boxing movie franchises since Rocky. The story is about Apollo Creeds’ son who goes on to fill his father’s shoes as one of the best boxers in the world. The first-ever Creed movie debuted in 2015, with leading actor Michael B. Jordan, who in the movie was trained by none other than Sylvester Stallone. The franchise can be considered a sequel franchise to Rocky. It was just recently announced that Michael B. Jordan is going to have his first opportunity to direct a movie! That’s right, after 6 years of working with the Creed franchise he is finally getting his opportunity to get behind the camera for Creed III.
Michael B. Jordan is probably most known for his roles in Black Panther and Creed, over the last five years he has quickly gained popularity as being one of the best actors of our generation. He was even on the cover of People magazine, GQ, TIME, Vanity Fair, and Men’s Health. He has always been an incredible actor but has never had an opportunity to actually direct a film. However, with Creed III he is finally getting his opportunity and has even been taking advice from directors like Ryan Coogler and Denzel Washington. MGMs film group chairman Michael De Luca even made a statement saying:
“Michael’s vision for Creed III is incredibly exciting and will undoubtedly be an important contribution to the cannon of this storied franchise. We are thrilled to bring his directorial debut, and share this next chapter in theCreed story, to theaters next year.”
It looks like acting wasn’t going to be the last stop for Michael B. Jordan and is hoping to make an even bigger impact on Hollywood. After the word got out about his directing debut he eventually made a statement saying:
“Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment. This franchise and in particular the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”
Creed III is without a doubt one of the biggest boxing franchises that the world has ever seen and I personally believe that we are in very safe hands with Michael B. Jordan behind the camera. Creed III will be released by MGM on November 23, 2022.
