Friday night’s football game was one for the books as the Frederick Golden Eagles faced off against the Poudre Impalas in an intense matchup that kept Frederick students and families intense in the stands as they watched the game.
The game started with Frederick on offense during kickoff, but things didn’t go as planned. The Golden Eagles got off to a rough start, earning a false start flag that pushed them back early.
Poudre soon took possession, but Frederick’s defense didn’t make it easy, stopping their offense quickly and holding strong. Despite Frederick’s solid defensive effort, Poudre was the first to put points on the board. Still, that didn’t shake the Golden Eagles’ determination. Soon after, Preston Kissinger scored Frederick’s first touchdown of the night, tying the game. The first quarter ended locked at 7-7, setting up an exciting battle ahead.
In the second quarter, Poudre managed to pull ahead, scoring twice and building a 21-7 lead. Frederick refused to back down, answering with another touchdown before halftime to make it 21-14.
By the end of the third quarter, Poudre had extended their lead to 28-14, and the energy in the stands began to fade many fans thought the game might be over. But the Golden Eagles had other plans.
In the fourth quarter, Frederick came alive. The offense caught fire, and the defense stepped up to shut Poudre down completely. With incredible teamwork, Frederick rallied and scored multiple times, completing a stunning comeback. When the final whistle blew, the scoreboard read 36-28, with Frederick on top.
The Golden Eagles are on a winning streak, and are better than ever. After the first couple losses the first few games, they have proven that they are as good as they can be and nothing will stop them. The Golden Eagles have worked hard to get where they are now, and the hard work is showing off.
The Golden Eagles proved their resilience, turning a tough start into a thrilling victory. Friday night’s game wasn’t just a win it was a statement that Frederick never gives up, no matter the odds.
