The Summer I Turned Pretty has returned for its third and final season, giving fans one last season of love triangles and drama. The show originally started as a book series written by Jenny Han, but then was turned into a series, which captured the magic that the books originally had.
The show first aired in the summer of 2022, and has since come out with a new season every year. The newest season, came out every Wednesday starting July 16th. There are eleven episodes in total, each episode leaving the viewers with curiosity.
This season revolves around Belly and Jeremiah, as their relationship is growing now that they are in college. The two want to make things even more official after dating for a few years, so Jeremiah “proposes” to Belly.

This sparked a lot of controversy, as he didn’t actually propose and the ring he gave Belly made fans laugh. Many fans called Jeremiah a “man child” because of the way he acted towards Belly, removing many from ‘Team Jeremiah’.
The characters have definitely changed and developed since season two, being how they are all adults in college or out of college. These changes in the character give them more depth overall and help the plotline develop throughout the episodes.
Like the previous seasons, the show has its love triangles with Belly and the Fisher brothers. The seasons follow very similar plots, and they do end up being kind of predictable.
Compared to the books, the show is very similar. For anyone that has read the books, there isn’t really anything much different, but it’s still worth the watch.
This season did kind of seem like it built up to the climax for nothing, but overall it was still an interesting season that did have some jaw dropping scenes.
The acting is just as good as the other seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Lola Tung, who plays Belly, did a great job at displaying emotion and getting into her character. As a whole, Belly’s character has developed so much since the first season, as she was just in high school during the first season and in the newest, she is out of college.
The Fisher brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad, played by Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney, also did an exceptional job playing their characters. The two brothers have been through a lot together, especially after the death of their mom Susannah, and the two boys do a good job at portraying the roles.
Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad have always been in some sort of weird love triangle, both of the boys always have been in love with Belly. Belly does date both throughout the show, which creates a lot of tension and drama between the two brothers.
This season, the tension between Jeremiah and Conrad skyrocketed, especially with the turn of events that happened in the finale.
Overall, this season is one of the best yet. It did seem a little pointless at the end, just based on what happened in previous seasons and episodes, but every episode was still interesting and didn’t seem like it was getting boring at all.
For any fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty, this season is definitely worth the watch. Whether they are team Jeremiah, or team Conrad, every fan will get what they want to see during this season.
For any fans of the books that have not yet watched the show, it is worth watching for sure. The books and the show are extremely similar, and the show really helps the plot line come to life.
It definitely makes a difference that the author of the books also writes the series. Jenny Han does an amazing job at portraying the story, and adding in twists and turns in every episode. Each episode in the latest season is almost like they have their own plot, which makes it even more interesting.
This isn’t goodbye to Belly and the Fisher brothers
While this was the final season, fans don’t have to say goodbye just yet. After the last episode came out, Jenny Han announced that there will be a movie coming out, which excited many. The question is what the movie will revolve around, based on the finale.
The release date of the movie is still not known, but fans are expecting it sometime around 2027. This movie will be the final ending of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and it will be a bitter suite ending.
