Released on October 22, 2020 The Witches is not so much of a hit like the original. Scoring only 51% on Rotten Tomatoes when the original scored 93%, now this could be because the Director and Writers changed some things up from the original however we think differently. With this family friendly movie one might think it’s too cheesy to be good. 

      The first part of the movie starts out with Chris Rock being the narrator. Just the words he uses and the way that the Directors made the screen looks makes you wonder if this movie is more cheesy than funny. It starts off with the text on notebook paper playing on a screen which doesn’t exactly make you want to jump out of your seat to continue watching. When watching the movie you will understand why it is meant to go in the direction of children. 

     For it being released the week before Halloween and it being about Witches you would assume that it would be filled with creepy stuff however they lacked in that area. Despite the lack of creepiness you will have fun watching the film as “Grand High Witch” (Anne Hathaway) the main character leaders you through an interesting ride. Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, and Morgana Robinson really brought out the film to make it fun and entertaining and each of their styles helped bring even more to the film to help it become a fan favorite and a new Halloween tradition for families with young children.

     Although many fans of the original complain about the ending being so different the ending is one to remember. I won’t give that away, you’ll just have to watch it for yourself, but the Actors and Actress put their own spin on the movie that is not like any other. From the sounds of it this will be a new tradition for many families around the world. The good thing about this movie is you can watch it from the comfort of your home. There’s nothing stopping you.
