Frederick High School’s varsity Coed cheer team hosted a camp for little kids for the football game against Thornton. On Wednesday, September 25 after school, the varsity cheer team met with 33 children starting from kindergarten going up to 7th grade. The cheer team wanted this to be a super fun and exciting experience for everyone.
The Frederick cheerleaders were a little nervous since there were so many children and the cheer team had to be split into different groups. The camp ended up being really fun for the cheerleaders and not what they expected. As all the girls were showing up, the cheerleaders played fun games like little sally walker, here we go, and duck duck goose. The kids enjoyed doing the games and had a lot of fun.
The cheerleaders gave the kids cheers that they could do with at the football game and thought of a super fun and exciting dance to perform at halftime. All the kids did amazing learning the cheers and they all absolutely loved the dance. The kids favorite part of the camp was learning to stunt. The cheerleaders put stunt groups together and every girl was able to fly and they all loved it.
The kids parents were super impressed and thankful for giving the kids such a fun experience. One of the parents even emailed the cheer team thanking them for the experience their child had.
Before the Friday night game, the cheerleaders were getting nervous to watch and control all of the kids. The cheer team soon realized that it was nothing to worry about. When all the children arrived the cheerleaders had such a blast and didn’t have to worry about kids running off and not listening. The kids all did amazing and did what they were supposed to do.
All the Frederick cheerleaders needed to have one or two buddies so they could watch over the kids. Some of the kids were really nervous to go out at first because of all of the people, but after the first cheer they did amazing and had a lot of fun. The kids were looking forward to halftime so their parents could see their performance.
The kids had so much fun and the cheer team got so many compliments and a lot of good feedback not just from the parents but from a lot of staff. After the game the cheer team all huddled up and the coach went on about how super proud she was of all of the cheer team. She said “I am amazingly proud, you guys went out there and got your stuff done, you killed it and with those kids you guys really pulled it together and I’m super proud”.
This cheer camp was super beneficial and fun for the cheer team and the little kids. Everybody had a lot of fun and the cheer team is really glad they got to do this for kids.
