Gavin Ishmael is not just on the starting roster for Frederick High School’s Varsity football team–he’s starting the push to the playoffs right away. After a rough end to last year’s season, Ishmael is fully ready to give it his all in the coming football season.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how our hard work in the offseason translates into game-day performance. The energy and brotherhood within the team have been incredible, and I’m excited to build on that momentum and lead us to a successful season.”
Gavin has scored 3,642 passing yards throughout his career of two seasons. Throughout those 2 seasons, he’s become well known in the Frederick community and has learned a lot from the sport itself.
“One of the biggest takeaways from my high school football experience has been the importance of teamwork and perseverance. The lessons learned on the field about pushing through challenges and working together are invaluable and will stay with me beyond high school. As well, with a perfect amount of preparation, anything is possible.“
When asked what he would tell someone who’s been aspired by him and is pursuing football, he responded with “I’d tell them to stay dedicated and never lose sight of their goals, even when facing obstacles. Hard work, consistent practice, and a positive mindset are key. Surrounding yourself with supportive teammates and coaches can also make a big difference, it definitely did for me!”
Ishmael will be graduating as part of the class of 2025. “After high school, I plan to attend a school that has offered me. Where I’ll be doing either business or engineering.” Ishmael has been part of the team for 2 years.
Ishmael has many things he will miss about Frederick, but the most prominent being the sense of community Frederick provided;
“I’ll miss the strong sense of community at Frederick High School. The support from teachers, friends, and fellow athletes has been incredible. Whether it’s the Friday night games or even the everyday interactions in the hallways, it’s the people of Frederick and the very dope atmosphere that I’ll miss the most.”
And a word for his team:
“I’ll miss the bond and the brotherhood we’ve built as a team. The shared experiences, the inside jokes, and the way we’ve supported each other through both the highs and lows are things I’ll always cherish. The friendships and memories we’ve made are truly special on and off the field.”
