Today, Frederick and Dacono temporarily closed all non-essential town offices. Meanwhile, lots of local restaurants are closing their dining rooms and changing their service options.

The towns of Frederick and Dacono have shut down their town halls and all their non-emergency offices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Both cities will still keep all their Police and Fire departments working through the outbreak as well as all essential Public Works and Administrative services. If you need to pay a bill, both cities recommend you use their website, and you can still contact public works with any issues with your water, gas, or sewage at the number on each town’s website. At this time, Firestone has canceled many meetings and public events but has all their city departments open.

Several businesses in Frederick, Firestone, and Dacono are also changing business hours or shutting their doors in response to the outbreak of COVID-19. Here is a list of all the local business affected by the virus:

  • Some local restaurants are making temporary changes due to the spread of COVID-19. Georgia Boys Restaurant is transitioning to delivery and pick-up services only this week at both their Frederick and Longmont locations, reflecting the shutdown of all indoor dining in Denver restaurants announced this morning. Pinocchio’s Italian in Longmont has also gone to a pick-up and delivery services only, but it is unclear if the location in Frederick, which is attached to a busy fuel station, will also close its dining room. Zoup in Del Camino has also gone to delivery-only service, while Starbucks and Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide moved to pick-up only services today.
  • Both ELF in Dacono and Peel in Frederick both posted statements over the weekend assuring customers that they are spending extra time deep-cleaning and decontaminating their restaurants, yet as they are closed on Mondays, it is unclear if this will change.
  • Pepper’s Fireside Grill is still hosting a dine-in restaurant experience, and none of the local fast-food corporate restaurants (Qdoba, Subway, Dairy Queen, etc) have announced changes in hours or dining yet.
  • The Back 9 at Bella Rosa and the Bella Rosa golf course are temporarily closed to the public.
  • King Soopers has decided to reduce their hours of operation to 7 AM to 8 PM in response to the outbreak, including the location in Firestone. As grocery stores see high volumes of people, the shift in hours will hopefully prevent their employees and customers from infection (a King Soopers employee in Denver tested positive for COVID-19 this morning). The Safeway in Frederick has not changed its hours. The CDC recommends that, to reduce the chance of infection, only one person per family should do the shopping or that groceries should be ordered online and delivered to reduce the number of people in grocery stores at any one time.
  • The High Plains Library District has closed their locations in Firestone and Erie until further notice. All library programs, events, classes, and meetings are canceled as well. Until they reopen, all checked out materials will not expire and they will not accept any returns. The HPLD encourages patrons to use their online resources, such as Kanopy (for free movie streaming) and Hoopla (for free music streaming). The Longmont Public Library is also closed.
  • All Carbon Valley Recreational Facilities are closed, and all programs are canceled until further notice. If you are a member, you will still see automatic withdrawals from your bank account during this shutdown, but you will be credited for these weeks at the end of your subscription.
