On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists launched attacks into Israel. It’s only escalated from there, though. Here is everything that you need to know about the conflict and what to expect in the future. Hamas is a militia group out of Palestine that was formed in the late 1980s. Hamas holds very anti-Semitic beliefs and values. Hamas also believe that the land of Gaza has always belonged to Palestine. The Hamas won a surprise election in 2006 for complete control. Which is incorrect because historically, Gaza has been held by the Jewish community.
Since the attacks on October 7th, there have been over 2,600 fatalities. “At least 2,000 children have been killed in Gaza over 17 days, according to one aid agency. They are among the more than 5,700 people killed in the Israel bombardment, according to Palestinian health officials.” There are also over 9,000 injured and about 200 hostages at the time of this writing. They have recently threatened to start releasing execution videos, so be careful on the internet right now. These videos may include the horrific killing of babies and children.
Israel may be at war, but hope is not lost! The Israeli government has sent out messages to leave Gaza, for there will be a siege to attack the Hamas. Israel also cut off all food, water, fuel, and other supplies to Gaza. This is all after Hamas shot up a music festival. The Israel Prime Minister has come out to say “But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it”. He has also stated that “Hamas has made a mistake of historic proportions”.
With Israel fighting back, that does not come without help and support from other countries. But with people supporting Israel come people supporting Hamas. Israel has received over 9 billion dollars from the US. We have also deployed troops in Israel. We have also sent $6 billion to Iran, which supports Hamas, so indirectly, the US has supported Hamas. This is the second time in recent years that we have supported both sides of a war. We are doing the same thing with Russia and Ukraine. Israel also has support from Britain, France, Italy, and Germany. While Hamas is supported by Iran, Hezbollah, Turkey, Qatar, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria,
The war in Israel is absolutely devastating. This war may lead to World War 3. If Hamas can bring Israel into Syria, that will bring Iran and the U.S. fully into this war, which will also engage more allies from both sides. If this happens, this could be the closets we have.
