Frederick Football scores a win against Skyview and cancer

Jordan Anders, Sports Writer

On October 25th, the Frederick Warriors won 48-7 against the Skyview Wolverines with a strong start in the first half with six touchdowns, guaranteeing their spot in the playoffs. (it was no ordinary game, etc)

The game began with the warriors receiving the ball in which Brandon Hornby(#22) made about a 75 yard carry down the field. The warriors couldn’t get a first down so they were forced to punt to the Wolverines. The defense held them and were able to get the ball back to quarterback Jake Green (#2) to lead the offense to the first touchdown of the game made by running back Dom Schlief (#4). A short six minutes later Dante Ciaravola (#1) scored another touchdown and at 0.0 Dylan Sindelar (#99) wraped the first quarter with a touchdown thrown from Dante Ciaravola. Luke Dunker (#11) makes all three field goals to help his team with extra points as they go into the second quarter.

The second quarter got underway after a brief water break and pep talk. The quarter starts off slow but begins to pick up after Gavin Self (#24) scored a touchdown. At two minutes, Don Schlief (#4) walks into the end zone for yet another warrior touchdown. At 28.8 seconds left, Gavin Self makes yet again another touchdown for the warriors which ends 41-0 in the first half.

The third quarter got underway with a couple of player switches, Bryce Schust (#16) makes his way to the field to play quarterback for Jake Green. Bryce throws a spiral to Dom Schlief for the final touchdown for the warriors at 4:08 in the third. At the end of the third, Jake Green stated “I think we are playing great, but we still have things that can be fixed, so we will fix them in practice to prepare for Mead next Friday.”

The fourth quarter went by fast with no touchdowns from the Warriors but one touchdown from the Wolverines ending the game at 48-7. The celebration begins on the field when the players are greeted by the fans who are all dressed for the pink game. A special moment happened after the game when Head Coach Peeples gave two game footballs to Jessica Ramar and Tanner Atencio who were sponsored for Frederick’s Pink-Out game. After the game Brayden Weingardt (#51) said, “before the game, we all decided to not only play for us, but for Tanner and Jessica. It was nice to play hard and come out victorious in honor these two warriors. It was very awesome that Coach Peeples was able to present these two with a game ball.”
