With everything going on right now, sometimes our only option is to curl up in bed and watch a good show. Fortunately for us, the new season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ is out and ready for us to love. The first season of the show left us wanting more, and it’s finally here. This show is unlike any other on a streaming service because it doesn’t come out all at once. Here are my first impressions on the 55 minute first episode.

Since we left off last season our main character, Din Djarin a.k.a Mando,  is on a mission to get The Child (baby yoda) back to its kind. He first must find the Mandalorians, who he discovers are located on Tatooine, the home planet of Anakin and Luke Skywalker.

After searching for some time, he finds himself in a town called Mos Pelgo. Who he meets there isn’t actually a “real” Mandalorian at all, he is a marshall named Cobb Vanth who wears the armour of Mandalorian. Obviously, our protagonist sees this as very disrespectful and asks Vanth to return the armour. Vanth refuses, and agrees to a showdown to see who gets it. Their dispute is broken off by an earthquake, caused by a massive sand creature hunting for game. Vanth compromises and tells Mando if he wants his armour, he’ll have to help him kill the creature.

We get into a little bit of the history of Mos Pelgo and how he got the armour, which belonged to Boba Fett, a Mandalorian from the original Star Wars franchise. He used it to drive thugs out of the city. So they go along with their mission and find others who also wish to kill the creature called the Crate Dragon. Let’s just say, plan A was a total bust. Thinking on the fly, Mando makes a master plan and kills the beast. The episode ends with Mando and The Child riding off to their next adventure.

Now, should you watch this show? Let’s keep it basic, if you love Star Wars then this show is just another great thing to add to the list, other than the newer movies, those in my opinion have only tainted the franchise. This show, however, is a great blend of all the things we love most about Star Wars. What’s not to love? There’s action, adventure, even some western elements, and who can forget baby yoda’s cuteness! So, if you’re looking for something to look forward to, start the new season, you won’t regret it.
