The senior Warriors wrestled their last home match on February 6 against Thomas Jefferson High School. The four wrestlers took this to heart and wrestled with everything they had, and they all came out champions. The team came out victorious with yet another win under their belt with a final score of 61-6. 

Jonah Sanders wrestled in the 145lbs weight class and took his opponent to three periods. He pinned his rival, adding three points to the Warriors’ score. In the 160lbs weight class, Victor Rangel also took his opponent to three rounds and won.

Victor described the bittersweet feeling of his last home victory: “It really hit me that this was my last high school duel ever and I wanted to do my best. I’m really going to miss my team and the feeling under the spotlight on the mat.” 

While Victor added four points to the team’s score, Bayley West pinned a Thomas Jefferson wrestler within two minutes of the second period and gave the team six points. TR Kindvall did not get the chance to wrestle on his senior night, because there was no wrestler in the 195lbs weight class from Thomas Jefferson (fortunately, he was able to spot his team six extra points because of this).

It wasn’t just the seniors competing that night. Wrestlers, Justin Dean, Kole Young, and Adrain Casillas brought the team six points each due to the other team not having enough athletes. Alex Carillo, JT Gardner, Logan Rangel, Jimmy Case, and Michael Espindola, all wrestled and pinned the Thomas Jefferson athletes within the first period. Reese Lehman was the only Warrior to fall short, allowing the other team to put points on the board. After the duel, Bayley West told us, “Wrestling these four years has been the greatest part of high school, and I will never forget all of my teammates who have impacted my life tremendously.”
