Valentines Day Shouldn’t be a Day Single People Dread
February 11, 2022
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, all the singles are gathering and dreading for the day to come. Valentine’s Day is the day that everyone without a partner feels left out and extremely alone. But it’s ok to be single on this Holiday of love because it’s not all that bad if you take the day the right way. A lot of people feel dragged down and broken from the thought that they aren’t able to find “the one” to be with and Valentine’s Day is just yet another reminder of how you still are searching and waiting for the one day to come when you can find that special person. All you need to do is keep your chin up like you would do any other day.
You don’t need to be bothered by the fact that you’re single on Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day can be treated like any other day if you want it to. What’s so special about this day anyway? Yes, there’s candy, flowers, and of course so many smiles but you can get that anytime you want if you think about it. You can really make the day YOUR day. For example, you can buy snacks for yourself, comfort and hang out with other single friends, or even just hang out by yourself and watch movies. Singles should be able to just treat this day as a day for self-appreciation and love and be able to celebrate you and how far you’ve come from being so strong and independent.
If that doesn’t sound pleasing then you can simply just pretend that it’s not Valentine’s Day and that it’s just yet another day like all the others where you’re not at all bothered by the fact that you’re single and independent. Why should this day make you feel so lonely and sad? Of course, there are major cons to the day but there can be some pros as well. Some pros can be:
- An excuse to stay home and do nothing all day.
- Being able to avoid social media and all the couple pictures that come with the dread, etc.
- Less stressed out because of a significant other.
- You don’t have to worry about what you look like or anything because there’s no one to impress of course.
- You’ll be able to choose what to do all day with that being watching movies, sleeping all day, and anything else that you can make of the day.
- And lastly, you don’t have to worry about anyone else’s well-being but your own.
But on the flip side, there are of course cons to every pro.
- Valentine’s Day decor EVERYWHERE.
- You’re alone all day.
- No gifts.
- Couples EVERYWHERE.
Who cares about the cons when you don’t even have to even be so bugged by the fact that you’re single on Valentine’s day. There are many reasons that you are alone on the holiday but we can put that behind ourselves and take the day on with a purpose. To Be honest February 14th is just one day of the year and if you choose to, you can treat it as though it’s just another day of the week.
So, if you find yourself single this Valentine’s day make sure to remind and show yourself of how wonderful you are and how far you’ve come without a partner so far. It is understandable that if you’re in a relationship Valentine’s day can be great but if you’re single and lonely, find other ways to make this day not so bad to cope with how you’re feeling. For all the singles on February 14th remember to look at the holiday in a positive light and don’t let it ruin your disposition because overall it cannot have power over you if you don’t allow it.
