Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have been at an on and off battle for world’s richest man since January. Both men are incredibly successful businessmen for their incredible and revolutionary ideas. Elon Musk is currently 49 years old and is known for being the CEO of Tesla as well as the space program SpaceX. While Jeff Bezos is known for being a major American entrepreneur who is a chief executive officer of Amazon.com, Inc. With two completely different spaces of wealth, these two have been going head to head for months in a race that will most likely never stop. 

Elon was born in South Africa and had a traumatizing childhood due to his father being, “a terrible human being… Almost every evil thing you could possibly think of, he has done.” Musk stated. As of 2021, he is known as the best businessman of all time with a net worth of $190 billion.

Jeff Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, to a 17-year-old mom and a 19-year-old dad. His parents divorced early on in his childhood, but Jeff was then adopted by his mother’s new husband, Miguel Bezos. Bezos ended up attending Princeton University in 1986 and worked with telecommunication companies. 

He created the idea of “Amazon” on July 5th,1994, as an online bookstore until 1998 when he added buyable products like music and video. Then finally in 2002 Amazon became an online store that compiled different products from different websites. The website took off in popularity leading Bezos to have over a million shares in the company. At the moment Bezos’s net worth is sitting at $185.7 billion.

 With the coronavirus pandemic, both of these men’s net worths have skyrocketed, tons of people are bored or need some excitement in their life so they might go buy a new car or they might buy some new household items on Amazon. You can see how the pandemic has greatly affected both of these men and their companies. 

Jeff Bezos has always been known as one of the richest men in the world but with the rise of Elon Musk and his company, he quickly passed Bezos in January. Since then there have been multiple shifts in their net worth. Bezos then had Musk beat in early February, only to have Elon overcome his wealth again. Currently, Elon has Bezos beat with about a $5 billion difference. 

One thing’s for sure though. This is a race that will never end as both of these men’s companies are very successful without a doubt. The net worths will most definitely continue to change in the near future and the title of richest man will continue to be unannounced as one of these two will be constantly surpassing the other. None the less it’s still a fun and extremely entertaining race to watch.
