Peacemaker can be called a lot of things, divisive, political, and hilarious! Peacemaker (played by John Cena) is a spin off show about a character first featured in the suicide squad.
During this season Peacemaker after killing his father in season one ventures to an alternate universe where his brother and his father are still alive and Peacemaker’s family trauma is removed. He often visits this world due to the comforting feeling of his brother’s presence and his fathers seeming changed political views.
This season really highlights peacemakers trauma and how it affects him as a hero and as a person. While in the alternate universe he soon starts doing his heroic duties and causing him to slowly care less and less about his main universe.
This causes a huge highlight in peacemakers flaws as he ends up falling in a hard choice whether he stays in the alternate universe where he can stay with a romantic life with his love interest and have his happy family or he can go back to his harder drab life. This decision however is quickly made for him once he finds out that the alternate universe is controlled by nazis.
Once this happens Peacemaker must leave his alternate life behind and soon realizes that his imperfect universe is what makes it comfortable. Season 2 of peacemaker did not just keep up with the expectations of the first season but raised them even higher with its humor, storytelling and dramatic scenes. This season also discusses how the alternate universe doors were discovered by peacemakers father instead of him actually inventing it.
This season feels like peacemaker reliving his trauma as he often talks to people he has killed or caused harm to while they have no knowledge of him doing the sort due to the alternate universe.
This season also focuses on another character Economos, who didn’t get a lot of screen time in the first season, This season they show off how smart and useful Economos is to the group even though in the first season they make Economos seem useless and somewhat ignorant compared to his peers.
This season also strays away from any sort of mission taken on by the group do to its disbanding. This also makes Economos feel more relatable like he’s just a blue collar man being thrown around by his job. Season 2 of Peacemaker was a great and entertaining watched and is highly recommended for any superhero or antihero fans.
