Kyla Vejrostek is no stranger to taking the game–whether that be on the court or off the court. Kyla has always had a drive in competition, and found herself making Fredericks’ JV volleyball team her sophomore year. Through her steely grit and determination, she worked her way up to varsity come junior season.

She told me that, “Volleyball has made me a better person. It taught me to be a leader, and to take initiative.” And initiative is something that Kyla has only exemplified within the past year or so. She has partaken in the COED tournaments associated with Frederick, and the powder puff tournaments as well. She also has been a member of her club volleyball team for the past four years, and is going on five this current season.

She informed me as well, about her passion in general for exercise and activities linked towards this.

“My favorite classes are consistently my PE classes, especially when trying new sports and just having fun.” Although her strong suit is volleyball, Kyla has never shied away from the challenge of learning something new sports wise. It helps even more that she is surrounded by her teammates in multiple of her classes to allow for positive team building on and off the court.

Team Player

Kyla values her teammates significantly, and it’s clear in how she proclaims each of their talents. She plays alongside team member, Ava Reed, who also was highlighted for her excellence in both academics and athletics. Kyla is driven with similar reasons, and shows a similar vivacious passion in everything she accomplishes and is yet to accomplish.

She expressed to me the lifelong bonds she has developed through sports, and how it plays into confidence.

“All the blood, sweat, and tears being put into this sport feels that much more meaningful when you celebrate or sob with teammates you’ve built lasting connections with.” She told me.

Her Drive To Success

Kyla has high achieving goals being put into motion as we speak–she plans to begin realtor schooling before her senior year is up, and is going to strive to get her real estate license by eighteen. She plans to get her license before/during her move to Florida,  and continue her professional career there.

She doesn’t plan to stop there either, and anticipates a possible career in securing a spot at a community college to further her education in marine biology. Being so close to the beach in Florida is a motivation of hers–the sheer impeccable beauty and joy of living near the water rubs on her in a positive light.

“I want to be a realtor like my mom–she truly is an inspiration of mine, and I look up to her in so many aspects,” Kyla explained to me.

Kyla’s Creativity

Kyla wishes to use her creative headspace to benefit others. She told me she constantly finds herself utilizing her creativity through outlets like painting, drawing, and concocting cards for her friends.

Although it may sound far fetched at first, Kyla correlates her creativity directly to her success and building confidence in volleyball.  Because of the mental toughness she has developed thanks to the sport, it has encouraged her to be the voice for others by sharing her outlets of creativity with them.

Kyla is also a very ecstatic owner of an entourage of brightly colored shoes, and it gives her a command over the court when wearing them. She finds it motivating for others when you encourage them through boldly being yourself, and her proclamation of shoes is just one of many small steps she takes in that direction.

Going Far

Bold in her ways, a lethal athlete on the court, and a beacon of happiness and joy radiating from her, Kyla Vejrostek is a force to be reckoned with.

She, just like her mom, Holly Vejrostek, has that special spark that automatically draws you into her. No wonder she wants to pursue a career in a field that emphasizes the importance of communication, and human connection. Kyla’s ferocity towards life leaves lasting imprints on the people around her, and it doesn’t take much to see.

Her words of encouragement for her fellow incoming athletes are as follows:

Volleyball, just like any sport, requires dedication, effort, and other skills that will take you far in life. Sports teach you to withstand hardships and develop a mental toughness. One of the most impactful lessons I will always take with me is how sports taught me I’m more than my negative moments in the game, and that those mistakes only fuel the fire. Never forget, mistakes are just stepping stones on your way to a paved pathway.
