After a tough loss against Mead last week, the Frederick Golden Eagles came out determined to prove themselves and they did just that Thursday night with a win over Skyline, leading to a 56–12 victory.
From the start, Frederick’s energy was all there. First quarter Skyline had the ball and the ball was returned straight away from Conner Bettencourt (#8) and Jovan Martinez (#9), on the 17th yard. Preston Kissinger (#4), goes under center, takes the snap, pitches it out to Sonny Delpizzo and gets Fredericks first touchdown.

In the Second Quarter, the scoreboard was 28-6 with touchdowns from Sonny Delpizzo twice and Skyline scored once by Ben Kearns (#1), in the third quarter Preston Kissinger scored a touchdown for Frederick, however skyline did score a point but that didn’t bring Frederick down they were locked and knew there next move, and soon after scored another touchdown by Sonny Delpizzo, he was locked and already scored 4 touchdowns for the Frederick Golden Eagles so far in 3rd quarter and in the fourth quarter Frederick made the last 14 points and Skyline only made that one touchdown…
Delpizzo played hard, and worked with his team to take home the win against Skyline.
The win carried extra weight for the team, coming just one week after falling short against Mead. That loss made Frederick’s football team committed then ever. By halftime, the scoreboard already told the story Frederick was up big and they came to win, and the Eagles never looked back. Frederick finished with an impressive 56.
Frederick Students in the stands felt the win, cheering and happy as Frederick reminded every one of their potential. The Golden Eagles looked like a team ready to leave behind their past game and chase a strong finish to their end of game.
With this being the first win of the season, the football team and students have hope that they will continue to the winning streak.
Frederick’s football team will continue to play hard, and tackle any obstacles in their way to take home more victories.
With this decisive win, Frederick not only silenced any doubts but also sent a clear message: the Eagles are back, and they’re not done yet with they’re next game coming up this Friday against Montebello for Frederick Golden’s Eagles homecoming game.
