How to Train Your Dragon, an animated movie that has now turned live action, came to theaters on Friday, June 13.
As of mid-2025, this movie has made over $627 million worldwide. The writer and director of this movie is Dean Deblois, which is based on the 2010 animated film that he co-directed.
On opening weekend, the movie made $84 million dollars in the US and in Canada.
The movies runtime is longer than some movies, standing at just over 2 hours long. The movie doesn’t get boring throughout, and stays interesting the whole time.
The characters from the animated version, such as Toothless, Hiccup, and Astrid, have returned for the live action version.

The acting in the movie is top notch. All of the characters play their parts well, and capture the magic that the animated movie had. The dragons themselves look almost realistic. The attention to detail in these dragons really make the movie what it is.
How to Train Your Dragon is about how there was an ancient threat that endangered both the Viking and dragon alike on the isle of Berk. The friendship of both Hiccup and Toothless, a Night Fury dragon, becomes a new experience for both species, forging a new future together. Hiccup also try’s to impress his father, but knowing him, he isn’t who is very skilled when it comes to fighting, he fails. Later on in the movie, you will see how he tries to practice his fighting skills to become better.
For anyone that is interested the genres of action, adventure, comedy, drama, family, and fantasy, this movie is the perfect fit. This movie does include a lot of action to keep the viewer entertained. How to Train your Dragon is a good fit for someone who loves watching action movies and someone who loves fantasy.
For age, I would recommend it to people from ages 6 and up. This is a good movie for kids who would love watching something that includes action and adventure because I feel as if kids around that age would be really interested in watching this movie.
