The Final Destination movie franchise reaches its 25th anniversary this year. The five-film series is notably the bloodiest in horror (with ?????? deaths) and is notable for making fans afraid of flying, using a tanning bed, or driving behind a log truck. Unfortunately, the franchise has been dormant since 2011’s Final Destination 5–dwindling box office numbers, repetitive and ridiculous plots, and an overuse of CGI and 3D gore effects forced the producers to put the series on ice.
For its 25th anniversary, the once-dead franchise has sprung to life with a new release: Final Destination Bloodlines, which was released on May 16. Thankfully, this film was worth the wait: Bloodlines provides the gory deaths and thrilling action fans love while elevating the material to new heights. While the movie isn’t perfect, it is the perfect way for horror lovers to spend a couple of hours.
While the opening scene for all Final Destinations really set the tone for the movies, the opening scene in the 6th movie is extremely important for the rest of the movie and creates many plot twists shown later in the movie.
Since the last Final Destination move in 2011, the film has advanced much more with CGI and effects. The movies are very CGI heavy, which creates cool effects but is sometimes too much. To create the deaths of the characters, the directors use CGI to make it more realistic.
While the CGI does help to make the deaths more realistic, it is very noticeable and could have been a little better. The CGI in the latest movie had definitely improved since the last movies though.
The plot to the movie was very interesting and leaves the watcher curious to see what happens next. There are many elements in the movie that are very similar to the previous movies, such as trucks carrying logs similar to the second movie or driving across bridges, similar to the 5th movie.
The movies all tie along together nicely and all follow similar plot lines. The deaths are pretty predictable in the 6th movie, but that is expected.
The 6th movie is a little different than the other plot lines however, normally the opening scene is the main character visualizing a disaster happening before it actually does, and that is what happens in the 6th opening scene, except the main character visualizes someone else premonition.
This plot change adds a different feel to the movie, making it different than the others in a good way.
Final Destinations Bloodlines earned $102 million in its opening weekend, becoming the highest grossing opening weekend in the franchises history.
The main character, Stefani played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana, visualizes her grandmothers premonition causing question and concern for her family’s safety.
While the previous movies typically revolve around the characters saved from the disaster, this movie was revolved around the family of Iris Campbell, who had a premonition of a big disaster on the opening night of the Sky-view restaurant in 1968.

All of the deaths in Final Destination Bloodlines were filmed and shown well, leaving the viewer on the edge of their seat. There were no parts during the movie that were boring, the plot really kept the watcher on the edge of their seat for the whole movie.
Final Destination Bloodlines is not the final movie, there will most likely be a 7th movie made soon. The film franchise has lasted a while, and while most movie franchises start to get a little boring after a few movies, this franchise has kept the chaos and plot twists strong.
Overall, the movie was really good. It was significantly better than Final Destination 4 and 5, the acting was the best out of all 5 other movies and the CGI was also the best out of the movies. The writers really went all out for the plot on this movie, adding creative touches around every corner.
For any Final Destination movie lovers, this movie is a must see. Final Destinations Bloodlines really captures many great elements of its own as well as adding touches from previous movies into it.
