For their last home game of the season, which had to be rescheduled due to rain, the Frederick Boys Baseball team faced off against the Legacy Lightning. While the game was rough and ultimately resulted in a mercy rule at the bottom of the fifth, the team celebrated their eleven seniors after the game with smiles on their faces.
The game started slowly with neither team scoring until the top of the second when Legacy scored their first run of the game.
During the bottom of the third, Frederick started to make some dynamic plays, with senior Alex Clapp hitting and making it to first and Nate Rapp bunting, bringing him to first base. When Danny Thompson hit, Nate advanced to second base before the inning came to a close.

To start the fourth, senior Emory Stanton pitched and the Legacy Lightning capitalized, scoring an additional three runs.
When Emory was interview after the game, he said that “It was an awesome feeling being able to be the starter on senior night. Legacy is a tough team and it was pretty hard to pitch to them because most of their batters hit the ball pretty well, but I felt we held in there with them for the first half of the game.”
Frederick decided to then switch their pitchers and put junior Cody Case on the mound.
However, this switch didn’t stop Legacy who were able to advance their lead to 0-7.
With the score against them, Frederick really needed to have several successful runs at the bottom of the fourth.
First at bat was senior Logan Rosine who got a successful hit and made it to first. Next were Emory Stanton and senior Cody Holmes whose attempts both resulted in outs.
Senior Dane Jorgensen got a successful hit, making it to first and sending Logan to second. To end the fourth, sophomore Zaiah Jones was struck out, getting the team’s third out.
Once Frederick switched pitchers again, substituting Nate Rapp in for Cody Case, the game continued with the fifth, and in this case, final inning.
Legacy continued their dominance, scoring seven more runs, bringing the game to a close at the top of the fifth 0-15.
When asked about the team’s overall performance this season, senior Dom LeFevre noted how, “I feel like the season went well, we just had some unlucky breaks. We lost 3 early in the season by one run and that unfortunately set a tone for the rest of the year.”

After the game, Frederick hosted their senior night which celebrated all eleven of their seniors, a few whom are committed to play baseball in college: Bryson Satterly, Dom LeFevre, Emory Stanton, Nate Rapp, Danny Thompson, Cody Holmes, Logan Rosine, Alex Clapp, Dane Jorgensen, and managers Danny Watts II and Ava Jorgensen.
The celebrations included each senior having their high school accomplishments, favorite memories, and post grad plans shared as they joined their families in walking up to their coaches for a parting gift.
Dom said that, “Senior night celebrations were great, rough game, but celebrating with my best friends is something I will never forget.”
The ceremony was bittersweet, with smiles all around, but the realization that their high school careers had come to an end.
“It was a pretty surreal experience for me; I’ve been working at baseball for 4 years and it’s difficult to see that part of my life end” said Emory.
