The much-anticipated matchup between the juniors and seniors has arrived. After weeks of practice, it all came down to one game. One opportunity for the upperclassmen to stake their claim as the 2025 Powderpuff Champions.
By the end of the game, the seniors proved that they were worthy of the Powderpuff victory, winning 46-12.
The game opened with the National Anthem and continued with Dr. Fox commentating and keeping score. The seniors took the offensive to start the game; however, they weren’t able to gain much ground, which led to a turnover on downs.

This allowed the Junior offense to take the field. After several successful runs by Kyla Vejrostek, gaining roughly 40 yards, the team was able to score the first points of the game with a touchdown by Brinley Westmoreland.
Junior Hailey Pollard, who attended the game, said, “It was such a cool environment to be in! Everyone was just there to have a good time.”
After this, the seniors got serious. On their next drive, quarterback Payton Torres handed the ball off to Zoe Wittler around the 40-yard line. Zoe ran the ball, evading many defenders before reaching the designated end zone.
The seniors then successfully got a 2-point conversion, caught by Ava Jorgensen.
But the senior’s touchdown led to some confusion and complaints, mainly from the Junior coaches led by Sonny Delpizzo, Aerik Ross, Blake Baker, Nico Mashkouri, Marcus Salmeron, Reno DiGesualdo, Evan Quinonez, Keegan Holloran, Danny Bartrez, Cody Salazar, Cody Case, and Connor Bettencourt.

Earlier in the game, the juniors had to go all the way to the end zone to score, but the seniors scored at the 25-yard line. Coaches screamed at the refs, volunteer junior and senior boys, before they eventually came to terms with the fact that these were the rules the rest of the game would be held to.
Another rule that teams were made aware of was that for a two-point conversion, the team had to score in the end zone, not the 25-yard line.
Both teams scored again before the end of the half, going into halftime with a score of 22-12.
After halftime, the seniors couldn’t be stopped. They went on to score several more times, even getting two interceptions before the game came to an end.
The juniors, however, couldn’t seem to gain back their momentum from the first half, which resulted in a scoreless second half.
Due to this, many of the junior girls were irritated with the results and even ran several plays without their coaches present. On one of the last plays of the game, junior defensive player Addie Strojinc got an interception, bringing the senior’s final offensive drive to an end.
In a postgame interview, head coach Sonny Delpizzo said, “I feel like the game was good at the start, and we fizzled out towards the end. I feel that I and my coaching staff could’ve done a better job with how to cover some of their key playmakers, but I’m glad we had that experience so we can learn from it and get ready for a different result next year.”
As the game came to a close, the juniors were disappointed with their performance, but the seniors were ecstatic with their dominant victory over their opponents.
With another year of Powderpuff in the books, the question can be asked again: Do the seniors always win? Usually, as it’s tradition. But this year, they proved that they were worthy of the victory.
