For Camden Pacheco , high school has been a whirlwind. It’s been full of lessons, laughs, and growth. From the theater stage to navigating academics and friendships, their journey has been anything but ordinary.
One of the most unforgettable experiences of Cam’s high school career was participating in the school’s production of Matilda. “Being part of that play was such a highlight—it was chaotic, hilarious, and brought out a different side of me,” they shared.
Reflecting on their transformation since freshman year, Cam doesn’t hold back. “Freshman year, I did a lot of stupid stuff and surrounded myself with the wrong crowd.” Over the years, they’ve grown more focused and self-aware.
Academics didn’t come easy at first for Cam either. “I struggled a lot with grades,” they admitted. “But I used the resources at school—tutors, extra help, and support systems—to push through and come out stronger.”
If Cam could talk to his freshman self he would say “Don’t be dumb and choose your friends wisely.”
Cam says balancing social life and academics was a challenge as well. And while some seniors get sentimental about leaving high school, Cam keeps it real: “I won’t miss it.”
When it came to staying motivated, one person stood out to Cam — Macey. “She helped me stay on track when I wanted to give up.”
After graduation, Cam is heading to cosmetology school. Cam’s biggest goal is to make lots of money. They’re feeling great about leaving high school and are most anxious about keeping academic stability in the future.
There’s no shortage of memorable moments for Cam. “Theater was full of funny and unexpected stuff,” they recalled. If their high school years were a movie, it would be titled We’re Here and We Don’t Know How.
Cam’s story is a reminder that high school doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful—and sometimes, just making it through is the biggest win of all.
