Frederick High Schools girls varsity basketball team really puts all of their effort into trying their best at games, and it shows. The team has won 18 out of 24 games since the start of the basketball season. On Saturday, March 01, the girls competed against Pueblo County High School for the first varsity playoff game.
The girls on Fredericks varsity team gave their all, and won the game. The final score was 41- 67. Frederick had a lead against Pueblo for the whole game. The girls made great plays, and gave their all which gives them an even better chance at competing at the Denver Coliseum for the state championship.
By the start of halftime, the girls had scored 34 points, with Pueblo having 8. The girls worked very hard to achieve these scores, and they always give their all during the games. The hard work the girls put into their games reflects a lot on the court, the team is always organized with their plays and always works together to be their best.
#1 on the girls varsity basketball team, sophomore Peiton Stone shared her thoughts on the basketball season so far, and how the playoff games are going for her and her team; “I think the season has gone well, we’ve hit a couple of bumps throughout the last few months but I think it’s shaped us to feel more ready than ever for playoffs! I think we know as a team how far we can go, now it’s just our time to go prove it to everyone else!”

Since they won this game, they will go onto the next playoff game against Lewis Palmer High School. They will play against them at home on Wednesday March 5th at 6:00 pm. This game will determine if the girls team gets to go to state and play at the Denver Coliseum.
The girls have been on a winning streak for a while now, which means they have a pretty good chance at winning state. If they do win state, this will be their first time. Winning state would be a big win for the girls, considering all of the time and hard work they have put into the team.
