Netflix’s original film Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is the newest movie in the decades-long stop-motion franchise. This film is directed by the creator Nick Park, who has worked on movies like Chicken Run and Shaun the Sheep Movie, and his co-director, Merlin Crossingham who has previously voiced the popular British Claymation character Morph in multiple shows and films. It delivers on past films in the franchise’s ability by delivering high-quality animation and jokes that can make the audience laugh out loud. Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is worth the watch and is a great film to unwind with after a stressful day.
The plot of the film is a very humorous concept with a group of robot gnomes that Wallace created getting controlled by a penguin criminal mastermind named Feathers McGraw, who uses them to get his revenge on the duo. Speaking of Feathers McGraw, he is a very well-done villain that the writers of the movie were able to build up as a genuine force to be reckoned with. A fascinating commentary about the dangers of AI in the modern-day world is present.
This makes sense because more and more AI has been seeping into the art world. The creator, Nick Park, has also commented that he does not want to use AI in his movies. Also, the movie can convey emotions for the characters in a great way. The majority of characters in this movie are humans who are all very expressive in facial expressions, but the two characters can express emotions through the way their bodies move quite well.
The animation is also amazing and can rival computer-animated films with the smoothness of motions between characters. Stopmotion of the film feels like something that will be talked about for years after the movie. They also use animation to greatly complement how the gnomes move throughout the movie.
The jokes in the movie were very funny and were able to make the story lighthearted while also still keeping the story well paced. The score also helps perfectly complement the scenes that they are in.
All in all, the movie is great to watch with family, friends, or just by yourself because it is very fun to watch. For anyone that loves stop motion or animation in general, this movie is a great watch.
