Mufasa, the realistically animated Lion King movie came to theaters on Friday, December 20th. The movie has been in theaters since its release. Since then, the movie has earned over $230 million at the domestic box office. The movie is now one of the highest grossing Disney movies ever. Mufasa just recently became the 10th movie in 2024 to get over $200 million domestically.
During opening weekend, Mufasa only made $35 million, falling $20 million behind the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 during its opening weekend. While the movie had a slow start, it is now a box office success and has earned big titles.
Mufasa still includes the same characters as the first Lion King. Simba has started a family with his wife Nala, he now has a daughter named Kiara. Mufasa meets a lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. After meeting Tara, Mufasa and Taka go on a journey to search for their destinies.
Mufasa and Lion King were filmed in different spots even though they followed similar plots with the same characters. Lion King was filmed in South Africa while Mufasa was filmed in Botswana.
This movie would be a better fit for kids around the ages of three to twelve because the movie is more targeted for children. The animations of Mufasa give the movie a lifelike representation and the CGI was done very well. Mufasa is entirely CGI, relying on photorealistic animation to make the safari characters look realistic.
Mufasa is definitely worth the money and is worth watching in theater because this movie goes more though the life of Mufasa and how his relationship with others was. It shows a lot of important stuff in Mufasa’s life and is written and shot well.
The acting in this movie is good, all of the voices show good emotions into all the characters. It’s clear that the actors put in a lot of effort to portray their characters.
The production and quality of the acting in Mufasa was great. All the actors that were playing the voices of the characters had good pronunciation and said everything clearly and had good emotions into their acting which made it seem more realistic.
Overall, the productions and quality of Mufasa were good and the actors did great jobs at portraying their characters and acting with emotion. The CGI and animation was exceptional, the characters all looked very life like and there weren’t any scenes that didn’t look realistic.

Lion King shows Mufasa when he was alive in a few scenes, but in Mufasa, he is no longer alive and is only being told in a story to Simba’s daughter.
