Senior Deja Lewis has her life figured out after Frederick High School: she’s going to go to Front Range Community College and she’s going to study to be an EMT. She wants to be an EMT to help people. During her high school career, she did not take any honors or AP classes, but she did do a biomed program. She did yearbook for the first three years of high school, but none other outside activities. Deja currently has a job outside of school at Subway.
Deja says she will miss going to sporting events in high school and she will miss being with her friends. Lewis said her aunt is her biggest role model in life, “With all of the things she went through, she’s like my best friend. We connect a lot and get along really well.”
Deja will really miss her Spanish class during freshman year; she met two of her closest friends in that class. Her favorite class throughout high school was her Forensics class with Mrs. Bowes. She loved learning about serial killers and watching courtroom stuff.
One tip Deja would give others in high school is to not take everything so seriously because every year people change and it’s okay to grow apart from people. Deja has grown and learned new things in high school, and she is happy to have experienced new things. Deja said if she could go back to her freshman or sophomore year, she would go to class more and do more of her work.
Deja has all of her credits, so she will be graduating early and is going to start college in August of 2025. She’s still going to graduation in May, but she will not be at school for the second semester. Lewis is grateful for her mom helping her throughout high school because she took her out of Denver to graduate.
Deja will miss her friends from high school. She made some of her best friendships in high school. Lewis is happy to be done with high school but will miss it at times. Deja is grateful for all of the friendships she made throughout her high school career and is going to be her friends after graduation.
Deja will be missed at Frederick; she has made a big impact on the Frederick High School community with her personality. Deja’s a kind, funny, compassionate student who lifts everyone’s spirits.
