Jovan Aldana is a senior this year who is always respectful to others and is very personable. He carries these qualities through his personality and actions. Jovan has a 3.763 GPA, he works hard inside and outside of the classroom. One of his most noticeable qualities is that he is a leader in the Frederick High School community as well as on the basketball court.
“I want the best for all people, so giving them a little push or nudge to do there best can sometimes be the difference to a individual to know that they know they have people that care about them.”
Jovan is the biggest leader on the basketball court and he is a great teammate. Jovan will be a big part of the FHS basketball team this year. Jovan is one of the reasons as to why they have a chance to make a big run at the state championship. He has made the final four as a freshman and sophomore and had many models to show what it takes to lead to get to that level. He was Honorable All-Conference, All-State Academic, and a captain on the team along with some achievements amongst the team like the dirty shirt award.
“It’s gonna be a ride of emotions, a lot of adversity but I believe that the team has the strength and the culture to push through and create success in the season”.
Basketball means a lot to Jovan, it has taught him that a game can teach more than just X’s and O’s. His dad has always told him “The game of ball will teach you about how the real world will come at you. This is more than just a game.”
Jovan has carried with him that when the game goes sideways or throws him down, it’s time to get back up and keep going just how life will throw you curveballs and strike you down but you always get up and keep trying. Just as Jovan knows that the refs won’t be fair to everyone and how he won’t agree with every call, he knows that people in this world aren’t always nice and life certainly isn’t fair. Jovan feels as Frederick has shifted over to a new conference, that the team will get a taste of harder competition compared to last year. He believes that they will still be able to compete strongly for winning the league as the league will also get them in good shape for the playoffs. Jovan looks forward to play Mead, Silvercreek, Erie, Horizon, Lutheran, and Broomfield. Some for personal meaning, and others for making a statement to the people and doubters.
“ Just like my dad has always told me the game of basketball correlates to the game of life.”
Enrolling from Mead, Jovan noticed the significance of culture here at Frederick that was welcoming and accepting not just him but all students. Jovan didn’t have any problems with keeping his grades up, he knows that having good grades is just as important as anything else he would do. Jovans senior year has been alright for him, it started off slow but has picked up as basketball seasons coming up. Jovans gonna miss some of the people and the memories and experiences he’s been through at Frederick. Jovan will miss many of the relationships that he has created with faculties but he will certainly miss Mrs Swanson and Mrs Kelly, as they were his first new friends coming into Frederick.
“Don’t let Highschool drama or peoples opinions impact what you want to do and what you. like always be yourself.”
Jovan has few hobby’s as he likes to build legos, go to the mountains, likes to ski, and most importantly spend time with his family.
Jovans plans to hopefully continue basketball in college. He plans to attend a four year college, possibly attend law school there and that’s all he has thought about so far. He is still deciding on what he wants to study.
Talking with Jovan was overall a great experience. He holds his moral standards to the top especially about culture. Jovan has been a great leader and student in the Frederick community. Jovan will be missed at Frederick and for what he has done for the town. He has been very influential to many of the younger players and teammates on the basketball team.
“I am very blessed and grateful that I have been able to receive experiences and opportunities here at Frederick High School and forever thankful. I would like to let people know that Highschool is about expressing yourself and your interest in order to be able to eventually pursue what you love.”
