Since the debut of the Netflix original Outer Banks, the show has won many awards. Outer Banks won drama show of the year at the 2024 Peoples Choice Awards, as well as the 2021 Peoples Choice Awards show. Outer Banks has been renewed for the fifth and final season, ending the Pogues’ adventures. The fifth season was announced by Netflix and Outer Banks on Instagram. The writers of Outer Banks said “From the beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship.”
The 4th season starts off right after season 3 ended, 18 months after finding El Dorado, the Pogues are asked to start yet another treasure hunt to uncover the sunken treasure of BlackBeard. One of these sunken treasures includes The Blue Crown, a crown that supposedly gives the wearer great power. The Pogues go all the way to Morocco to search for this treasure, but run into a dangerous group that is after the same thing. This season brings lots of chaos, emotion, and dark secrets.
The acting was amazing, with every actor really pouring their heart and soul into their characters. Considering the fact that Chase Stokes (John B) and Madelyn Cline (Sarah) dated in real life and later broke up, there is no tension between them in the show. They still act in love on the show, showing no signs of their real life break up.
The way the show is shot is good, but sometimes the color grading makes the sky and effects look a little weird. Some of the night scenes were shot during the day, so production had to put a harsh blue filter on the scenes to make it look like night, giving the characters an odd blue tint.
The plot of season 4 was good, it followed a good story, and wasn’t too confusing. It did kind of seem like a lot was happening at once, but that’s fairly normal for Outer Banks since the Pogues are always getting themselves into sticky situations. This season also presented some new enemies for the Pogues, adding new storylines that kept the story going.
Outer Banks season 4 was worth the wait, never leaving the viewers bored. The plot was interesting and followed a good story line. It was released in two parts; the first part came out on October 10th and the second November 7th. The finale left fans on the edge of their seats, but also left lots of fans angry and sad.
This season was based more around JJ played by Rudy Pankow. This season, JJ finds out some dark secrets about his family. Normally, the seasons have character development, but this season, there wasn’t nearly as much. Some fans didn’t like this and called the writers lazy, although there was already so much happening that there wasn’t much time for character development. Screen Rant said JJ’s most heroic season is season 4, given that JJ tries to save all of his friends multiple times throughout the season.
Outer Banks is a great show to watch for anyone who loves action, comedy, and romance. With chaos and drama throughout the entire show, Outer Banks is definitely binge-worthy. One of the most chaotic out of the four, this season of Outer Banks continues to show the Pogues in some sort of trouble.
