America’s Got Talent is a show for people who have talents like singing, dancing, magic, comedy, and more. Celebrity judges evaluate and vote if they want to see that act again by giving a simple yes or no. The judges can either hit the golden buzzer which sends the contestant straight to the live shows, or give them the red buzzer to send them home. Earlier in the season, the judges get to decide if the contestant can continue onto the finals. America’s Got Talent has significantly influenced American culture by promoting diverse talents, shaping entertainment trends, and fostering community engagement.
Many contestants from around the world come to participate in America’s Got Talent. The Mayyas, a Lebanese dance group who won season 17 of America’s Got Talent. These women traveled all the way from Lebanon to America so they could participate in the competition.
Female dancers are very rare in Arabic culture and they wanted to prove to people that it’s okay to do something they love, even if it’s looked down on. The Mayyas in Lebanese means: the proud walk of a lioness. The Mayyas are proud of what they do, and they won’t stop just because of the way others view them.
The Mayyas performance impacted many people to follow their dreams. More specifically, they impacted a dance group called Chibi Unity. Chibi Unity is a Japanese dance group who competed in season 18 of America’s Got Talent and said they wanted to win like The Mayyas did. Chibi Unity did not win season 18 but they were runner ups. With impact like the Mayyas did, they influenced a 27-member dance group to fly out from Japan to compete in this competition. The Mayyas are not the only contestants from other countries that have impacted people, many other contestants have left a mark on people.
Putri Ariani is a blind pianist and singer from Indonesia. Putri heavily impacted many people with her musical talents, including the judges who were blown away by her performance during the audition round. Simon Cowell even made her sing another song because he loved her voice that much, then proceeded to hit the golden buzzer. Even though Putri only placed 4th in the competition, she is now an icon in the musical industry in Southeast Asia.
In the current season, Brent Street Dance and Solange Kardinaly are in the finals. Brent Street Dance wowed the judges with their outstanding dance act. Solange Kardinaly’s quick change performance also blew the judges away. Both of these performers were from out of the country. The two are bound to impact future competitors to come to the show and compete.
America’s Got Talent started many people’s careers, and forever impacted their lives. At only 12 years old, Grace Vanderwaal won. She is now a verified artist with over 1 million listeners. Darcy Lynne Farmer won at age 12 as a ventriloquist and singer has been credited for the reboot of ventriloquism. America’s Got Talent is a great way to show off peoples talents, even if they don’t win.
This show has changed peoples lives completely, and for the better. This show has millions of people watching each year. Without this show, some people wouldn’t be where they are today.
