The wrestling team looking fierce for a photo before the day gets started on their debut tournament of the 2023 season. Coach Medina states, “As a team we need to continue to foster the belief that we can and will make this happen. Wrestling is a grueling sport. It’s not for the faint of heart. But if we continue to push each other and believe in one another the sky’s the limit. We will look to learn and grow from our matches throughout the year and look to peak right for regionals and state. We will harp on technique, fill whatever holes we have in our game and WE WILL be ready. We are just getting started.”

Halloween Haute Couture

Creative Halloween costumes lined the halls of FHS

Halloween 2023 was one to remember at FHS! There was a Quill and Scroll writing contest, a student costume contest, and a teacher costume contest. Many staff and students dressed up for the holiday. From creative costumes, to classics, to group costumes, here were some of the highlights at FHS!

Juniors Brinley Weingardt and Logan Gebs dressed up as Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. Couple costumes are always fun, and you can never go wrong with a classic! (Isabel Howell )

The art/music department went as different Marvel characters, including Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, Thor, and more. (Isabel Howell )

Freshman Cooper Siders dressed as Waldo from the “Where’s Waldo?” children’s book series. His friends had a fun time trying to spot him in the hallways throughout the day. (Isabel Howell )

The counseling department dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, complete with fluffy white beards. (Absent from the photo is Mrs. Beneke as Doc) (Isabel Howell )

Junior Ellie Palmer as Oppenheimer, from the popular movie that came out this summer, complete with suspenders, tie, and fedora. (Isabel Howell )

All of the admin and front office workers dressed as Mario Kart characters. They had some creative twists on their costumes, and Brandon the custodian even incorporated his cleaning cart. (Isabel Howell )

Junior Hannah Watson went as Alice from “Alice in Wonderland”. She even has a pet white rabbit at home to complete the look. (Isabel Howell)

The social studies department dressed as popular Will Ferrel characters (plus Mrs. Frizzle on the far right). Featured is Buddy the elf from “Elf”, Brennan from “Stepbrothers”, Chazz Michael Michaels from “Blades of Glory”, and more. They definitely had a lot of creativity in their costume choices. (Isabel Howell )

Sophomore Joey Summers, senior Isabel Howell, and senior Sierra Sanchez dressed as Dr. Nefario, Vector, and Gru; characters from the animated movie “Despicable Me”. Sierra even wore a bald cap to complete the look, which reportedly took a couple of hours to completely remove. (Isabel Howell )

Senior Ari Gilbert, sophomore Mordecai Coleman, and junior Lee Unland donned some spooky clown makeup for Halloween. They weren’t specific characters, but they added their own creative twist and their makeup was very impressive. (Isabel Howell )

Junior Izzy Jones as Walter White from the series “Breaking Bad”. Her look was complete with the yellow jumpsuit, glasses, gloves, and even a goatee. (Isabel Howell )

Senior Joe Maclean threw on a Scoops Ahoy costume to be Steve Harrington from “Stranger Things”. They even had their hair styled to match the characters famous flow. (Isabel Howell )

Junior Teagan Veile as Chainsaw Man, from a Japanese manga series. He made the headpiece all by himself, which took him several hours. (Isabel Howell )
