The Heart and the Heartbreak

Spring is the season for both love to bloom and wilt

May 18, 2023

April Showers

What self control does patience ask of one?
To view another hold her hurts to see.
I feel so low, My heart might weigh a ton-
I know that you belong with only me.

But when to speak and when to hold my tongue?
I fear that maybe I have lost my grip,
Assertion plus submission teaches love.
What if I let this chance I have just slip?

The thought of summer makes the winter freeze-
The wind will bite a lonely lover mean.
Abandon hope says logic and just leave,
Alone I wait with nothing but a dream.

But now that you are only mine; confide,
My chest is fill’d with joy and love and pride.

Love is a Hard Thing

Finding the one is like a rough river

Movies and books make it seem so sparking

Like you’ll just lose a glass slipper or two

And find the one to call your Prince Charming

But no: there’re ups and downs all around

Like a rollercoaster with a steep drop–

Love is hard will never be easy and sound.

It might seem like one thing but then go plop

And then be something completely different.

It will mess with your heart (might leave a mark)

When I just want someone magnificent…

Someone who makes sweet remarks about me…

Love tests your character and patience too

I’ll find love, but when will I see that view?
