The Lonesome Lottery of Life

December 26, 2020

“The doctrine of immortality of the soul has more threat than comfort.” – Mason Cooley

I’m the winner! I guess I’ve won

Since I don’t have to meet our maker.

Now, I get to be the last one.

Immortality… isn’t it fun?

Existence is a repetitive, continuous oscillator.

But I’m the winner… I guess I’ve won.

I was a jack of all trades, master of none.

But with eternal life, I could be a dictator

Seeing as I get to be the last one.

I start to unravel, becoming undone.

As more time passes. I feel like a traitor

And not the winner, though I guess I’ve won…

I want it to be over, but it’s only begun.

I will never reach an end, as there’s always later

Since now I get to be the last one.

There’s so much infinite, I’ll never be done.

But isn’t this life so much greater?

I’m the winner, I guess I’ve won

Now that I get to be the last one.
